Keyboard shortcuts with SSMS

SQL Server Management Studio allows you to set up custom keyboard shortcuts. These are a huge help, especially if you try out a few examples I’ve listed below.

Firstly, you can get to the Keyboard menu from Tools > Options.

SELECT TOP 100

If you enter “select top 100 ” as an option – lets say [CTRL+4], you can then select the name of a table, and just hit [CTRL+4].

As an example, let’s say you have a table named “Property”.

Property WHERE CreatedDate > '2015-01-01' ORDER BY ID DESC

All you need to do is to highlight this text and hit [CTRL+4]. Amazing.
