Helpful usage of SQL Server Management Studio keyboard shortcuts

Tired of typing out “SELECT TOP 100 * FROM blah blah”, and too lazy to find the specific table in the Object Explorer pane to hit the Select top 100 menu item? I know I am.

Therefore I made use of SQL Server Managment’s keyboard shortcut options.

  1. Browse to Tools>Options from the menu ribbon.
  2. Select Query Shortcuts under Environment>Keyboard.
  3. Select a shortcut and enter SELECT TOP 100 * FROM

SSMS Setting Keyboard Shortcut

This will turn

SELECT TOP 100 * FROM [User]

into

 [User]

and with the shortcut key combination, you will get results!
