I’ve had my first taste of Windows 8 after starting my new job, and I’m pretty happy with it.
I’ve been fed varying opinions of the operating system from friends and colleagues in the past, so I’m pleased to have the opportunity to try it for myself.
I haven’t gone down to the nitty-gritty, but the overall experience is ok (bear in mind that I’m using a non-touch screen with a keyboard & mouse, so I’m not utilizing many of the OS features).
Once thing that took time to adjust to was the start menu. A clear difference from Windows 7, the start menu is a bold but neat idea.
Although I began to adjust to it, I found a third-party tool that would enable the classic start menu. So, I went with it.
You can still reach the Windows 8 start menu via the Start Screen button at the top of the classic start menu.
